I love old mosques. The antique feel just brings me back... to when times were easier, I suppose.

Still, going now (to mosques or suraus, I mean) makes me calm too. It's a good place to escape to when the world gets you down.

Last Wednesday at school I had an expository essay assessment. The articles given to us were concerning the Iraq war.


Oh my God.


You men have it wrong. So wrong. Reading such biased, such prickful, balls-injected, self-righteous articles made me so sad. IGNORANCE, is what it is. Ignorance. There is this thing about politics where one person says something and sticks to it. That person never properly listens to the whole story that is out there practically bleeding the truth, and thus everything that comes out of his mouth, is all bullsheet. Can't you see the way you've written those articles have depicted you as someone with not an ounce of intelligence in your brain?

Please, go fly a kite. It's one thing you can do that won't hurt innocent people, misters.

Sigh. And terrorists? Please, don't use Islam as your main reason. It's rude to take something so pure and turn it into a propaganda leading to a tasteless war of politics. If it's true at all that you're serving God, than you'd know you're going about it the wrong way.

Like, man! Shit, can't you see you're heading to hell?

The religion that I practice is not violent at all. No "GO KILL those who do not follow!" Nada. It's obvious we're not practising the same thing. Never has Islam been sectarian. It's humans, as always, screwing up gifts from God.

Harlem at night... I took this from the window of the Magic Johnson movie theater in Harlem. I went to see a movie with Duke to help him relax for the big test tomorrow. He, and the rest of NYS's 3rd and 4th graders, will be taking Day ONE of the English Language Arts Assessment.

It's crazy how this testing stuff has gotten so out of control. The stakes keep getting higher and the anxiety of testing keeps crawling down the elementary grades. Soon our Kidergarteners are going to be required to write a five paragraph expository essay explaining the life-cycle of a butterfly or something ridiculous like that.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite views:
1) because 125th st is a busy, fast-paced place with lots to see and buy; and
2) Of course, because the Apollo is there.

Harlem reminds me of simpler days as a college student at CCNY.
